The above options appear when printing from the main flying log. By default, the page numbers show the page being viewed when 'Print' was selected (i.e. 'print current page'), but any page range can be entered manually.
There are options to print airport codes instead of the default format of full airport name. This may be useful to condense the width of the printout if full names do not fit on your printer's page for any reason. Similarly, you can select a different format of aircraft type to the default 'Detailed Type', including 'none' which will print only the registration.
Checking the 'Print Hours Totals on Log Pages' box, will print total hours itemised by crew capacity on the bottom of each log page. Be aware that this will significantly increase the time taken to produce the printout if there are a large number of pages being printed. For large printouts it may be easier to print several smaller batches rather than print the whole log book in one attempt. Hours totals printed are factored by any % claimed values, and provisional flights are included if they have been selected to appear on the printed page.
If the 'Print Comments' box is checked, any comments entered against a flight will be printed underneath the flight details line. If there are several comments, or long comments, this may lead to a single log page not fitting on a printed page.
If the 'Print Cover Page' box is checked, two additional pages will be printed. The first will contain the log book holder's details, as entered in
update personal details. The second will show
previous flying experience. This option provides compliance with the requirement that a log book should include the personal details of the holder.
By default, provisional flights are not printed. If you require a printout including provisional flights, you must check the 'print provisional flights' box. Note that if you request a print of a page containing only provisional flights and this box is unchecked, the resulting page will be blank except for the column headers.
An option is available to change the printed font size. The default value of 7pt should be changed with caution. Selecting larger font sizes may well result in log book pages being generated which will not fit on one printed page on your printer. PilotLog will remember your last selected font size to ensure consistency in your printed log.
You should always check printouts using your browser's 'Print Preview' function before printing. Best results are usually obtained by setting the page orientation to 'landscape' in your printer settings.
The selected options for airport, aircraft type and font size will be remembered, and used as the defaults next time you print a page. This ensures consistency in your printed log without you having to remember which option you used last time. The options are independent of the similar settings available in the
preferences window, which affect only the on-screen display of your log.
The options for printing a simulator log page, shown above, are simpler. The page number again defaults to the page currently being viewed. Print Comments works in the same way as for the main log.
