Hours Breakdown by Type
Statistics -> Hours By Type
This window displays hours totals for various categories of flying:
-
Generic Hours include the same single- and multi-engine categories as seen on the Hours Summary screen, but include any gliding and ballooning hours you may have in your log, as separate lines.
-
Hours By Type is a complete breakdown of all aircraft types found in your log. 'Type' in this context is a combination of manufacturer and type from the aircraft database, allowing the system to differentiate between, say, an Airbus 340 and a Saab 340.
-
Hours By Powerplant lists all powerplant types found in your log. You can see here your total jet, piston or turboprop hours as appropriate.
-
Hours By Airframe lists all aircraft categories found in your log. This may be landplanes, helicopters and so on.
-
Simulator hours is a breakdown by simulator type and crew capacity of all simulator time in your simulator log.
There are options at the bottom of the window to refine the options applied to the hours totals:
The default date range is from the first to last entries found in your log and simulator log. Clicking on the 'Start of Log' and 'End of Log' buttons resets these dates. The 'Today' buttons insert today's date into the corresponding date box. Alternatively, you can type in any date.
Include Previous Experience is checked by default. This will include any hours and aircraft types that you have entered in the
previous experience window.
Provisional flights are not included in totals by default, but you can include them by checking the 'Include Provisional Data' box.
Factor Hours allows the factoring of flights where the '% Hours Claimed' is less than 100% (e.g. heavy long-haul sectors) for experience purposes.
By default, 'excluded' hours are counted for experience purposes (they are usually only ignored for flight time limitations calculations), but can be excluded if required.
If any search criteria have been applied to the database, these will equally be applied to the hours breakdown. This allows calculation of total hours for complex queries. For example, to find total hours on any 737 (rather than breakdown by -200, -300, -400, etc), simply
search the main log for flights on '737', then recalculate the hours breakdown. You will still see the type breakdown, but the 'Multi-Engine', 'Jet' and 'Landplane' categories will now contain just total hours on all 737's. A warning will appear at the top of the hours breakdown page 'Flights filtered and only search results included' to advise that the totals shown are conditional on some search criteria.
Beware of entering conflicting criteria in the database search and hours breakdown options. For example, searching the database for provisional flights only, and unchecking 'include provisional flights' will return totals of zero, as the two options are mutually exclusive. Similar caution should be exercised when searching by date range, particularly as the two date ranges entered may overlap, giving a non-zero but incorrect total.
After applying search criteria, or changing any options, click 'Recalculate' to display the new totals.
