Download Backup Log File
This option is provided for users to keep personal backup copies of their log book data. Although data is backed up at the server, and also independently backed up by MJICCS, it is recognised that most people feel more secure with a copy in their personal possession. Additionally, combined with a spreadsheet program, keeping a copy of your data will allow you to view your flights at any time without an internet connection.

The downloaded file is compressed in the .zip format (typically achieving 90% or so compression with a corresponding 10x increase in download speed). Zip files can be opened directly by Windows XP and Mac OSX, without the need for additional software. On other operating systems, they can be decompressed using WinZip, available from the WinZip website.

Once decompressed, the log file is in standard .csv format (comma separated values). This can be viewed in any text editor (albeit without formatting), or more usefully imported into just about any spreadsheet program. Note that this file is provided in user-friendly format, and is not suitable for directly uploading back to the server. In the event that you require an old downloaded file restoring to the server, please contact us, attaching the .zip file you wish us to restore.

Download Backup Simulator Log File
This option is available when viewing the Simulator Log, and works in exactly the same way as downloading the main flying log.
