Add Aircraft
Database -> Add Aircraft
Aircraft entries should be completed as follows:
- Registration - G-XXXX or foreign equivalent. All characters will be converted to upper case automatically so g-xxxx is equally acceptable. If the registration entered is already in the database, then a warning will appear as shown above.
- Manufacturer - Boeing, Cessna, etc.
- Aircraft Name - General name; 737-400, 146, Warrior, 172, etc. This will be combined with Manufacturer in some instances to create a full name such as 'Boeing 737-400' or 'Cessna 172'
- Detailed Type - Full ICAO type for the aircraft; B737-436, PA-28-161, etc.
- MTOW - Maximum authorised takeoff weight in kg. This is used to sort flying hours into categories as per CAA licensing requirements.
- Airframe - specify landplane, helicopter, etc. This also allows later hours breakdown into fixed and rotary wing flying.
- Engines - specify number and type.
Note that some combinations of airframe and engine parameters are mutually exclusive (for example a 4-engined glider or turboprop hot air balloon). The program will attempt to avoid this by changing incompatible options, but you should check carefully that they are all correct before adding the aircraft to the database.
The 'Search CAA Database' button will open a new window and connect to the online registration database. If you have entered a registration, it will search and display that aircraft. If you have not, a search form will be displayed for you to search the database manually. This feature is currently only available for UK (G-), USA (N) or Netherlands (PH-) registered civilian aircraft.
Clicking on 'Discard Changes' will close the 'Add Aircraft' window. If you have made any changes, you will be asked to confirm this before your changes are lost.
Clicking on 'Save and Exit' will save the aircraft to the database, and close the 'Add Aircraft' window.
If there are any errors in the entries, a warning message will pop up to advise. See
data entry for details of acceptable data formats.
